Another letter to the editors of the Harrisburg Patriot-News:
I see where Maureen Dowd just wrote about how stupid the "Citiboobs" are for spending millions of dollars for frills like new corporate jets and office redecorating, not to mention the millions they awarded each other in year-end bonuses, while they had to receive billions of dollars in taxpayer bailout money to save their companies from ruin in the wake of the the recent financial crisis. Who is she kidding?
No, Mo, these people are anything but stupid. They might be laying off thousands of employees at their firms, not to mention the tens or hundreds of thousands of workers being laid off throughout the country due to the recession caused by their financial shenanigans, but they're not going to lost their jobs, nor are their companies going bankrupt, as long as the ever-willing U.S. taxpayer, represented by members of congress, will come to the rescue with billions or even trillions of dollars in bailout money. They're doing just fine, thank you, and talk of "show trials" is silly, since they've done absolutely illegal.
We taxpayers, on the other hand, continue to vote for members of congress who bail out shifty, if not downright crooked, Wall St. financiers who squander their money on highly-suspect investments and other financial flights of fancy. So, Mo, with them doing fine because we're paying their bills for them, tell me, please, who are the real boobs?
